Visiting with Jane Lewis
Jane is 85 years young. I was amazed at how vibrant she is and how funny, really. When Susan asked me to do this interview, I was worried that I would have a problem relating to Jane, as she is older than my own grandmother, but I was more than wrong. She was easy to interview and I am sure you will find her stories enjoyable. Of course, during our interview, which was held at the Y2knit storefront in Funkstown, MD., the town alarm went off twice. I cut it out as best as I could, but there are still pieces of it left in the interview. I think you will enjoy it anyway, so grab your knitting and a quiet corner and enjoy the Fifth Episode!

In this Episode, we discuss a topic close to our hearts, the cost of Yarn. We know there are costs involved, but does it really cost $20.00 or more for fibers that come from our own comuunities? As we dive into this topic, we learn about the cost of running a shop, and through an interview with Linda Singley of Bearlin Acres, a small farm in rural Pennsylvania, about the costs involved for the farmer as well. There are more than you might think. I hope this podcast will give you a greater appreciation for the amount of work that goes into making and selling the fibers you love so much!!!

I had an opportunity to interview Victor of Kraemer Yarns in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. He tells us the history behind this family business, as well as the inner workings of their yarn mill. It is interesting and has left me ready to drive in to see it for myself.

Wow, our second show. Susan, Jill and I spoke on all kinds of subjects this week, everything from New Year's "Goals" (resolutions) to the importance of supporting local economies and small businesses. While the conversation was enjoyable, the technology still doesn't want to cooperate. We are working out the bugs and should have higher quality sound by Episode 4. I know that's a bummer folks, but know our ultimate goal is to provide a quality show that is both informative and enjoyable to listen to.
I have also had questions about subscribing to this podcast through I-Tunes. We are currently working out the details on this issue and will notify all of you as soon as this option is available.
Enjoy your knitting and thanks for listening.
