This episode explores the different ways knitting can connect you to a new community, and how you can connect to your knitting through different types of groups. We discuss one of our favorite charity enterprises Heifer Organization, and as promised, here is the link. When Susan asked me to do this interview, I was worried that I would have a problem relating to Jane, as she is older than my own grandmother, but I was more than wrong. She was easy to interview and I am sure you will find her stories enjoyable. Of course, during our interview, which was held at the Y2knit storefront in Funkstown, MD., the town alarm went off twice. I cut it out as best as I could, but there are still pieces of it left in the interview. As we dive into this topic, we learn about the cost of running a shop, and through an interview with Linda Singley of Bearlin Acres, a small farm in rural Pennsylvania, about the costs involved for the farmer as well. There are more than you might think.
